Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala Ophthalmological societies have their own journals which are unfortunately not indexed in pubmed? What's your take on publishing works in these journals as first choice?
The first and foremost issue with publishing in a non-Pubmed/Scopus/WoS journal is that the article/publication won't be considered for the assessment of researchers or laboratory performances at your workplace/university (for appraisal/ credentialing).
Secondly, your work is less likely to be noticed and read by your peers, and thirdly, by virtue of the fact that non indexed journals don't have a stringent peer review process, the quality of article won't be as good as that of a peer reviewed article from an indexed one.
Indexed journals are considered to be of higher scientific quality means that the journal has gone through and passed a review process as compared to non-indexed journals.
Quit Good means a group of subject expert has been reviewed the journal article from long time.
The core journals of PubMed is MEDLINE. MEDLINE consists of citations for journals selected by an advisory committee to NLM. The MEDLINE database dates back to 1964 and accounts for more than 27 million of PubMed’s 31 million records. Currently indexing more than five thousand journals for MEDLINE. Those citations from MEDLINE journals are the only citations in PubMed that have NML Medical Subject Headings applied. Other citations are generally retrievable only by words in the citation, abstract, and author-supplied keywords.
So submitting the article non PubMed journals specific in MEDLINE will be not a good decision.
A good article to help understand the Impact of publishing in Indexed Journals. https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/impactofsocialsciences/2019/08/22/journal-indexing-core-standards-and-why-they-matter/
Indian journals like TNOA, KJO, JCOR,etc are indexed in directory of open access journals (DOAJ). According to recent NMC guidelines articles published in DOAJ indexed journals will be considered for academic promotions. Even case series published in these journals will be considered. So if somebody has academic promotion as the primary aim for publishing, then he/she can consider publishing in these journals. The quality of these journals are quite good.
But on the flip side, as has been previously answered, these articles will not get wide peer attention since they are non pub Med indexed.
