Young hranulose hippocampal neurons express basic protein doublecortin, associated with microtubules. You can use immunochemistry against this protein to visualize young cells.

In the case of mature neurons, besides already suggested Golgi Method, you may apply dye injection into the neuron cytoplasm to show the morphology. Using two different methods of granulose pyramids visualization will give you better insight of their morphology.
