ii. Different classification algorithms are available which are also found in the softwares you mentioned in the question. Accuracy is same as those proprietary softwares provide.

iii. Didn't really understand what do you mean by classical analysis but as I mentioned GEE does provide temporal images for many different sensors for very large timeframes (eg. Landsat-5 since 1972). An algorithm can be applied to a selected timeframe of datasets at once.

I have worked a lot with GEE and I know it as one of the best platforms for large-scale studies. It has come with different free satellite images and long multi temporal analysis can be done easily.

It has provided different classifiers (RF, SVM, CART and so on )which have the same accuracies than implemented classifiers in ENVI or QGIS but does not support neural networks yet.

Give it a try, It is perfect.

Advantages-

On the GEE platform, all datasets are already included.

GEE makes data management easier as every set of data can be processed with a few lines of code.

A lot of datasets available from various satellites such as Landsat, MODIS, Palsar, Sentinel where some products are already processed.

Most importantly it is free to use.

Beginners in geospatial analysis (I am on this list), their main concern about analytical packages (Open source or commercial) are :

1) capacity/efficiency of the tools 2) complexity of raw data input, processing and manipulation 3) algorithm variables settings 4) algorithms types availability.

The colleagues covered most of the Pros and Cons, and to some up, I see that Earth engine code editor is your landing page, where you can use a simple Python background to run most of the basic to Complex levels of Remote sensing analysis on FREE provided imageries by big hubs like USGS.

There are several advantages of using Google Earth Engine (GEE) and these are equally accurate as compared to other platforms. 1. The advantage of this platform is you can handle large volume of data within few minutes without downloading.

But you can't map composition like Acrgis.

2.Yes, you can get similar or better classification result from different supervised (RF, SVM, CART) and unsupervised classification method.

I really enjoy this service because of the speed and efficiency of handling the large volume of data. There are some prebuilt functions which make it less complex and more handy in processing multitemporal data.
