Normally for tracking the solar panels aligned with instant radiation some motors are used. Give suggestions for appropriate motor can be used in intensity based tracking systems
You have already used intensity based tracking system in your article. You know. But, I would suggest, for small applications, you can use Dual Axis Solar Tracking Tracker (DC 12V, max 3A, 5.7mm/s, 1500N/330lbs....)
You also can use stepper motor for the same application.When compared to dc motor that you used in that project ,precision in the tracking will be increased with the stepper motor.

Dc geared motors are best suited for dual axis tracking system.Stepper motors can also be used.But from the research articles it is understood that geared dc machines are best suited for higher capacity tracking system.
I have a dual solar tracker. But I havent used, yet. 52kW is a very high capacity. Geared machine can use for big capacity. You ask that "Is DC motor useful for higher capacity?". I dont know. May be, jenifer has knowledge related to this topic.
If you use PV, you will dc motor due to it generates dc current. However, for ac current applications, of course, ac motor is suitable.
