I am really very interested to hear from fellow members how they use geographical, spatial and satellite data and information (GSSDI) in various aspects of their work.

As an Academic and ex-Banker, I am currently looking into the use and application of GSSDI in risk, business and banking and financial services. I know many people, companies and consultancies use this and the combination with their own or other data base, and other data and information related to marketing, selling, prospecting and risk as examples.

1. I am looking for your advice to learn from you and your experiences in these fields. Or may be you know of people, companies, universities or consultancies that do similar work in combining GSSDI for instance with business/banking info and data.

I also know that some people also use big data and other tools to enrich these data.

Do you know of people, companies, research units, articles and publications that apply GSSDI in Financial Services or other areas in a special or novel way to achieve a specific result or goal?

2. Is there currently examples of systems, methods and or companies that apply any GSSDI or other sources to offer internet, mobile, communication or other ways to people in remote or poor and informal rural areas in order to provide them with a basic infrastructure that they can use mobile, do banking or save, teaching or training, communication with each other, tracking and for instance a very basic financial system and process to run their small or informal businesses as well to educate and train the community? In short how does one reach people in novel ways where there is no information, technological or communication infrastructure?

I would really appreciate help, support and suggestions in any way that can help me in the above two areas.

If you rather want to send it directly to me, my email is: [email protected].
