Can we get the depth image from Infrared projector + IR camera? (Similar to Kinect). I would like to purchase infrared projector and IR camera, then to make it become Depth sensor, is it possible?

I don't believe that it is possible to measure the depth from an image by just using IR Camera and Infrared Projector. You need to add Visible Camera to your system and perform some signal processing task such as phase shifting method between the modulated light and its reflection.

Thank you so much for your answer. I am really interested in 3D vision. Kinect is the great 3D sensor.
The Kinect consists of 3 basic component: RGB camera, IR Camera & Laser projector. I only would like to get the depth (IR Camera + Laser projector) so I am curious if we can use those devices to make a depth sensor :).

As far as up to my knowledge, Infra-Red projector and an IR camera are the two essentials elements which must always be present for depth sense. Since the technology is being advanced, i also came to read somewhere that, "Microsoft turns single-camera smartphone into 3D depth sensor". Obviously, i think it is possible.
