PGE2 is a free acid and doesn't vaporize easily. You will have better luck using LC/MS instead. Alternatively using TMS-derivatization method may be an option if you must use GC/MS.
thank you for your help. The problem is that i have only a GC-MS equipment and am looking for an established protocol. Studies have been done with GC-MS but in in the methods described, they do not give a clear cut view . Do you have a TMS-derivatization protocol for PGE2
there are Instruments with attached headspace systems, also ull have to study a little harder and find out the best suited solvent for ur prostaglandin....which gives a very good gas:solid ratio...meaning the sample extraction is maximum
once during my phd I was forst to analyse prostaglandine via GC-MS, it is for the most of them impossible! because you have to derivatizate them and withe 3 containing chemically active sites they get to heavy!
So try to find a cooparation partner, that would be more easy.
