I am using Gaussian 09 32 bit and my computer is 64 bit with 16 GB RAM. I'm trying to run QST2 for the HO2+NO-> OH+NO2 reaction, but both the CPU is used around 25% and the memory usage drops from 300 MB to 0.8 MB when it comes to I103.exe calculation. How can I solve this problem? I would be glad if you help.
Considering the computational efficiency, it is strongly recommended to use Linux g16, not the old Windows g09. For the same version of Gaussian, Linux version is much faster than Windows'. And this also lowers the probability of strange errors, which are more difficult to analyze in Win than that in Linux.
Nowadays it is convenient to have a Linux environment. For example, you can install the WSL(Windows Subsystem for Linux) in Win10. It allows you to use both Win and Linux systems simultaneously. There is no need to reboot to switch to another system. After installing WSL, you can install Linux g16 64 bit.
Have you set "%mem" and "%nprocshared" properly?
Plus, windows (especially 32 bit) is extremely inefficient when it comes to QM calculations. Not sure that you got an error and your jobs has been crashed, Btw some links are less memory demanding than others.
