Hello, I am trying to install Gatan Microscopy suite (GMS 3) software in my PC but i am getting an error regarding license file installation during software installation. Even after license installation i am getting same problem. Does anybody knows how to solve this problem. Thank you!
Does your licence support multiple installations? If yes, contact Gatan for instructions.
Thank you Mr. Dusevich. I have contacted Gatan for instructions and they replied quite quickly, now i have successfully installaed GMS 3.
If anyone is interested, these are the following places you might find license files on Windows 10 with GMS 3. The last three of the list is also where you might find plugins or want to place new plugins. (..\Gatan\Plugins)
For info, the license file installer simply copies any license files (.glc, .txt) that are present in the same folder as the license file installer into the first directory of the list:
("Me" is your current username)
C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Temp\_GatanInstall
C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Gatan\Licenses
C:\ProgramData\Gatan\Licenses
C:\Program Files\Gatan\Licenses (unlikely)
In order to install GMS 3, I fully uninstalled GMS 2 first. The presence of directories from GMS 2 prevented the GMS 3 installer from finding the correct license files. Now running the license installer, the setup.exe installer runs fine.
I do have one problem though - when installing packages present on an additional license, such as the free SI Viewer.
All attempts to either use the installer or copy the licenses to the above directory before running the GMS 3 setup.exe in order to modify the install, fails.
