For next academic year, more likely there will be a mix of online-only and hybrid teaching methods.

The hybrid approach includes both online and face-to face to different ratios for the delivery of contents.

However, if things get really bad because of Covid-19 health crisis, then faculty and students can switch completely to the online-only method of delivery.

The cadaver itself is usually sterilized when preserved by formalin. But the presence of large numbers in the dissection room will be the problem as with other teaching methods.

Ofcourse cadaver dissection is best method to study anatomy still in our senario specially for Postgraduate students . For undergradutes also we can teach them in small batches by demonstrating them thru vdo or on cadavers .

Hello, For the teaching of anatomy, an online solution for the courses has been set up. For practical dissection work, the consensus is to exclude subjects who presented COVId or COVID like symptoms before their death. For others, in addition to the usual tests (HIV, hepatitis, etc.) a COVID serology and a negative PCR test are required. For the students, the groups are basically small and all must wear individual protections (mask, gloves, gown, over-shoes, etc.). The laboratory is regularly ventilated and keen up, as are all the instruments used. Outside the epidemic period, all of these nationally defined measures must allowed us to organize dissection skills at the start of the next school year ... but the situation can change at any time with a possible outbreak of contamination for example.

Yes.. I do agree with my fellow colleagues. No anatomy without cadaveric dissection. However during these unprecedented times, it's always best to look for other alternatives too.. Virtual dissection softwares, models, Plastinated specimens may also serve the purpose for at least the time being..

Wish we all come out of this crisis sooner and resume our duties in the dissection Hall.

As of my judgement, i don't think post pandemic will have much influence in teaching in dissection hall. May be the number of cadavers available will be less for a while. But the already preserved cadavers will be there for dissection teaching. Now during pandemic online 3D anatomy teaching softwares are there to fill the vacuum.

@Karthikeyan Krishnasamy I agree with your opinion. Intelligence is an adaptation to the changes and is aware that the Covid19 crisis will still be hitting our teaching environment. We must adapt our practice to use the realistic 3D resources in digital and physical format to fill the lack of laboratory practice. Regards from Arica - Chile

virtual dissection via software's can be a effective tool for better understanding for UG ... For PG cadaveric dissection after the virtual will be time saving .... unless a protocol comes or pandemic is better understood exposure should be minimized...

The big question is how much actual dissection contributes to the anatomical knowledge and how do the newer techniques and alternatives compare with it. if the gap is narrow, the cadaveric dissection can be abandoned owing to the formalin and bad smells and paucity of cadavers. Anyone wishing to specialize in surgery can avail short courses of dissection later.

As off line classes have started for medical students, it is better that they undergo cowin vaccination two doses and after 45days , with post pandemic precautions dissection can be started. But exposure time needs to be reduced. And no of students per table needs to be monitered.
