Rather than providing you articles and books I am suggesting this strategy which I used for Executive MBA programs as a Dean and later as a provost of a university offering several types of MBA programs and I was teaching a course :Leadership and Ethics.
1. I identify in which sector your students are currently employed
2. Ask them to provide you with their job description and also share with you what are their major responsibilities.
3. In addition ask them what are the major challenges they are encountering in their position.
4. Ask them what are their aspiration and dreams.
After your analysis of all the data collected.
1. Designed your lessons with examples, cases, and challenges related to their position, employment sector, challenges and aspirations.
2. Define group work taking in consideration information about your students
3. Case studies, assessment tools and projects must be designed with the information collected in 1.
In a way this is the constructivist approach in learning.
With regard to the evaluation of learning outcomes, firstly, it is necessary to separate the methods of forming learning outcomes, from methods of their verification
Secondly, to make the evaluation system more complex. Assess competencies, personal qualities and characteristics of the student's health. Use expert and competitive forms of assessment
Since an MBA is expected to be a certain type of person with a certain skill set above and beyond the typical business worker, you may want to assess their "skills and abilities" more than their merely "knowing" answers to a body of questions.
What is an MBA able to do that others do not? Take that outcome as the guideline for a Capstone project.
Break the project down into stages accomplished both individually and in groups.
Design your rubric for measuring and be sure to require participants to measure each other as well as their own work so the instructor doesn't bear the full weight of this burden on their own shoulders. Peer review, when done right, can be a powerful motivator to perform one's best work.
Use an online portfolio management tool as a repository for each stage of the project. If designed well, the instructor should be able to follow each individual's work as well as group work and monitor who is mastering the subject matter and where gaps still remain.
Include regular touch points to address the gaps, whether face-to-face or online.
A principle concern with Masters Degree students is that they know how to critically think and ask good questions. With the emerging future we all face, merely "knowing" techniques and information is insufficient. We must all navigate an unknown (dare I say, unknowable?) future. Knowing how to make that journey requires developing our skills of observation, recording, teamwork, and questioning. This may best be measured by tackling a project (problem-based learning?).
Hope this helps. Am open to adjustment from my peers if I'm missing something here. Thank you!
