Although tools and techniques may change but the concept is the same; looking into the whole supply chain and select the element that suit your will, that is my view.
@ Guilherme Frederico : It is true. The plethora of disruptive new technologies has propelled us into a 4th industrial revolution. For me, the future is both exciting and terrifying. As AI displace and replace jobs across industries...what will be the role of the worker, and who will be the future consumers of goods and services when the Great Disruption churns into full gear? I see social upheaval and possibly revolution (I mean the burning and looting kind of revolution) somewhere in the future.
Perhaps governments will have to pay the vast hordes of displaced workers a living wage for doing nothing? How will this be financed? Heavy taxes on the uber-wealthy, finally? Is civilization close to a tipping point where innovation contributes to its collapse... and then we have to start all over again? Perhaps we are building our modern Tower of Babel? So many questions... so few answers...
Agree! we are living the 4th industrial revolution with the robots. My question? how we can administrate this new activities. Are they going to pay taxes?? how we can take our salaries if they are replacement ours jobs??

You'll see in the article there still is a long way to reach what we call the Industry 4.0, but the revolution has already started! The techonologies are emerging.
I guess it is quite obvious that so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution has the potential to dramatically change not only the production methods but also human lives just like the previous ones. The most significant effects would be the rise of the precariat class and reshoring of production facilities from the countries providing cheap labor. Trade wars between the US and China are just pointing out the new era.
First, 4IR is a technological and social wave. The social dimension is exciting climate concerns that sprung in the seventies. Can we doubt the force of 4IR? Only to the extent of the usual healthy doubt of science. Look at socio-economic effects captured in emerging Net Zero legislation in Europe. Is 4IR different from the computer age of the nineties?
