I am very much confused, may be i have no knowledge regarding this issue.
We claim that in nanoparticle synthesis, the particles are pristine but when we go with the FTIR analysis of the samples, we detect the functional groups or biomolecules of the chemicals we used during the synthesis. If our samples still have the functional groups of the chemicals used during the synthesis how we still claim the purity of our nanoparticles?
Dear all, if you are using bifunctional or multifunctional reactants, there will be always remaining unreacted functions at the surface. What is the intensity of these functions? Have you done any quantitative analysis? Be sure that you have particles and the concentration is correspending to either the surface or the bulk of particles. My Regards

Its very simple because the functional groups derived from the chemicals used for nanoparticles synthesis are coated on the surface of the synthesized particles. Also these chemicals act as stabilizing/reducing agents during nanoparticle synthesis. That's why during FTIR we also perform a control experiment by analysing the FTIR data of the stabilizer as well to confirm the nanoparticle synthesis.

Ok from the responses I get to know that there are always the functional groups attached with the synthesized nanoparticles. So my question is why then we claim the single phase or pristine nature of the nanoparticles. Furthermore, if these groups are attached to the nanostructures, what is the nature of the bonding?

Dear all, these are polyfunctional chemicals, some of their groups remain unreacted, mainly those at the surface, for many reasons, to quote : steric hindrance, geometrical inclusion, mobility and viscosity, and others. My Regards

To try to understand what proceeds with your nanoparticles you should disclose chemical nature of your nanoparticles
Dear all, yes secondary interaction mainly H-bonding with carboxylic acid if not dissociated, i.e. below pH 2.4. If ionized above such a pH, ionic interactions dominate. My Regards
I have got vibrations of dissociated acids and phenols. I guess the biomolecules might be attached with the nanoparticles either via electrostatic interactions or through Vander Vaals forces. Abdelkader BOUAZIZ
Dear M Burhanuz Zaman, if these types of interactions are occuring, generally they are accompanied by absorption bands shifts and/or the pick signal area broadenning/tightening.
Did you measured the pH of your compounds ?
Also to get a complete view, other tests such as the Zeta analysis may lead to other meaningfull information. My Regards
