I've attached my paper on how stigma associated with mixed martial arts was reduced through their interactions with the public. Your question gets at Goffman's concept of "the wise".

Hi Clark, 

I did a measurement development study for my dissertation - the measure, a self-assessment for providers, was intended to tap their negative attitudes, beliefs, and  behaviors regarding their clients, or their provider-based stigmatization.  I used findings from a qualitative study to guide item generation.  I've submitted a manuscript of the findings for publication, so fingers crossed.  But

Essentially, I surveyed providers of public mental health services in Virginia, developing the measure, as well as comparing stigma score with the influence of social desirability bias.
