I saw many studies have been done to predict future land use change around the world. Choosing the starting points of prediction time relies on the updated land use map. However, there is no agreement about which time should be predicted (i.e the end point). So, I would like to hear from you what are the main reasons that make researcher selecting the end point of prediction.
There are not standard. You can decide the number of the years.

I agree with Dr. Riccioli. The process of landuse and land cover changes is a continuous one. You have to decide for which year in future you want to predict and there is no fixed period.
