Yes, I know this is a very specific question. I am interested in Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) but I welcome information on other non-resprouter pines. When a pine is killed by fire or logged, I suppose that the xylem sap contained in its roots degrades and dries progressively. But, how long is there available xylem sap in roots for xylem-feeding animals like cicada nymphs or other insects?
