Use equimolar amounts of triethylamine and isopropyl iodide in refluxing acetonitrile. Should be finished after some hours of reflux. You can also use the isopropyl bromide but then add 10 mol% KI.
mix 1:1 eq. of each in methanol and add solid K2CO3 with stirring. You can follow by TLC using hexane, heptane or cyclohexane. Spots are identified by iodine or Dragendorf reagent. The tertiary product will be of higher Rf. After finishing the reaction, filter to remove the inorganic reactant and products. Methanol can be easily then removed by rotavap.
