It's an interesting topic. There are many recent studies that deal about this. I found some papers and other materials, which I believe can help you, however it's a large question and I recommend you see also the section references inside these papers. Moreover, to identify the best method, for example, there are typical instrumentation to analysis of gait which are not indicated to static measure. So, there are different measuring systems which can be through insoles plantar or by using of rugs with pressure sensors, or yet through of force platforms, which are able to analyze it.
I would like to do research on plantar pressure distribution in static position so I need information about best measuring system to do that. I need to compare patience of different postural disorder and evaluate pressure distribution between them.
I've found a study about this subject in which, we investigated the use of high-heels in different groups (women). The goal of this research was indentify the postural problems over the years in two different groups, and we used the foot plantar pressure as an interesting diagnostic tool to deal with this subject. So, we've analyzed the static analysis though the baropodometry (using a Footwork electronic). It's an instrument relatively easy to use, that it presented reliable data.
That is good and interesantinf investigation and I have a question. What is testing time for every participant? Or how long one participant spent on foot plate (30sec; 10sec; 5sec)? I could not find that parametar... esspecially for children because they couldn't stand too long.
In our study, the group analyzed were woman, 20 to 30 years old, no history of injuries in lower limbs, physically active. The experimental test used was the "Romberg" static analysis, in which we've analyzed to 25 sec. each volunteer. To analyze the parameters (i.e, foot plant pressure, COP, RFS), previous studies show that the static analysis is a method indicated, and in this case, the ideal time is between 20 and 30 sec. However its depending of your group. Are the children in normal condition or suffering from some neurological disability? Another important factor is associated with the age of these children. So, In my opinion, I think that you should apply the Romberg test with 20 sec. In any way, it's important verify the literature which deal with this specific group.
