Normally researchers choose a potential site having channelised debris flow history, and scale down on the basis of geometric similarity, but it has the drawback of boundary condition while releasing the volume.

I am dilemma to go with geometric similarity or dynamic similarity which obviously govern by velocity, Reynold number and Froude number.

I have a plexiglass rectangular channel of the inclined base of 9 m *0.25 m *1m high. I want to use this flume in my experiment, but i am unable to correlate this with the practical field condition.

One more thing the material involved in the debris flow ranges from large boulder to small sediment. how the particle size can be scale down in laboratory condition? and how to decide the proportion of sediment and water.
