I am simulating a building in TRNSYS. The required solar collector area is 500m2. I am using "type 1b" flat plate solar collector. The tested flow rate for this collector is 40 kg/hr.m2. What should be the flow rate through collector?
when collectors are in series with default value of one...it means its parallel. (the solar collector model can simulate an array of identical solar collectors hooked up in series. This parameter is used to specify how many collectors are hooked up in a series arrangement where the output of the first collector is the inlet to the second collector).
Flow rate of a collector is given by manufacturer. If flow rate is 40 kg/hr.m2 and 2 collectors are connected in series. If area of a collector is 1m2 then you will specify 40 kg /hr in the pump. If both are connected in parallel then flow rate will be 80 kg/hr, 40 kg/hr for each collector.
