Is anyone aware of any literature (published or gray) that discusses the cost/benefits of transporting, by truck, fish downstream of a dam?
Specifically, the costs of the program, the survival of transported fish, and the types of upstream traps used?

thanks for the literature, it seems to be very relevant here. Interestingly, trap-and-transport of salmonid smolts resulted in an impaired migration of adults.
However, in some instances trap-and-transport might be without alternative, such as for silver eel when barriers cannot be removed. If you want to calculate the benefits, you may have to question "How much is the fish?", and this is not in term of bying an eel or other fish of concern (would be easy to answer) but in term of estimating its value, e.g. for the population.

A few hydro power companies are running a Trap & Transport program for silver eel in Sweden. Some 20 tons annually are caught/bought and transported by trucks downstream.
Not much is published, especially not in English, but if you are interested I could introduce you to some contacts in each company, respectively. That is then for a more direct communication between you and them.
