The client in Australia is a distributor and is going to give load and PV generation information for 8-200 real houses from their smart meters.

Some of them will be 3 phase and most of them will be single phase customers.

I have to come up with an algorithm to get them connected to the appropriate phases and then probably come up with a solution to keep the grid balanced i.e. meeting the Australian(Victorian) standards(testing will be done on MATLAB and PSCAD).

So far the solution that I have come up with after reading some literature is to have some way of switching some customers from one phase to another in real time(Still not sure on how to get them connected initially).

But the solution has to be cost efficient and any equipment/techniques should be compatible with the current infrastructure as the client is looking to employ the techniques if they are good enough('basically be able to tell the linesmen how the customer's should be connected to the grid(which phase)', client's words). Unless we can come up with a new cost efficient way.

At the moment the client does not request us to work on the transient behaviour but rather the 'easy' part. For controlling the transient behaviour though, I have read about Distributed Generation so far and also about installing big batteries to stabilise voltage. The client wishes to know the cost and size of such batteries for the number of customers that the client will give us.

Would really appreciate your help as me and my group fellow have been going around in circles for a while and have to submit a project proposal soon which would outline what the client should be expecting from us at the end of the project.

Waiting for a reply.

We are willing to put the effort in, just need some guidance so we could start.
