I am trying to simulate FOC of Induction motor with SVPWM using MATLAB Simulink. In the motoring mode, the current is pure sine wave with desired frequency but in generating mode, the harmonic content is very high. What are the possible reasons and correcting action to rectify this problem?
Dear Krunal
You are modelling a complicated system and also finding mistakes or errors will not be simple. You can have different kids of errors:
- in the mathematical model of the drive
- in control system modeling that control switching of power electronic devices
- in parameters of the induction motor as well as those of the converter system.
If generally You model works fine, but the problem is high content of harmonics in stator curents, start Your checking with parameters or try another motor data.
But if Your experience in modeling electronic drives is not great, then start with modelling 3-phase pure R,L system and use the prameters that You have for Your induction motor in an idle run state, and then short ciucuit state, that is the blocked rotor state. The latter You can also perform for Your induction motor model giving a very high moment of inetia, so that the rotor in practice does not move.
But generally, You have to simplify system that You try to model, and test all vital elements that play role in the modelling of Your whole drive one by one.
Once again, if it seems that the model of the drive works correctly, and the drive starts and regulates speed well, as well as the currents are symmmetrical, then check the parameters,and inductances firstly.

Can you post some of the results? Further, the currents cannot be pure sinusoidal even in motoring mode.
