I noticed that many journals have received a lower JIF this year. The main reason seems to be related to COVID-19 articles: As the pandemic progressed and researchers gained a better understanding of COVID-19's impact, the novelty of such research might have diminished.

This could have led to a decrease in citations for newer COVID-19 articles published in 2022 and 2023, impacting the JIFs of journals released in 2024 (based on citations from 2022 and 2023).
