Predatory mosquito larvae usually depend on prey movement during hunting. compound eyes develop in much later stages such as the third Instar. anyone has literature on this?
Will this cause some kind of adjustment to the predator? the consumption of my first and second instar toxorhynchites were steadily increasing however it droppoed in the third instar and increased again during the fourth instar. this is one reason i can think of. Any more suggestions?

Seguramente datos concisos y precisos sobre el desarrollo de los ojos en mosquitos y particularmente en Toxorhynchites spp, no encontrarás; larvas de Toxorhynchites spp al pasar a su 4 instar se vuelve mas depredativas (incluso carnivoras) ya que, se asegura que no quede algún organismo que pueda afectar su desarrollo pupal (instar sin defensa). Esto me hace pensar que la depredación de Toxorhynchites tiene que estar correlacionada positivamente con el desarrollo de la larva (entre mas se acerca su instar de pupa, aumenta su conducta agresiva). Analiza el error estándar de la media de depredación del tercer instar, eso te puede ayudar a verificar la congruencia de la interacción!
muchos gracias Jose! I was also thinking of the same thing and could not really find a sure explanation of my results. i will try to look into the outliers in my data and try to exclude them if I get any major difference.
