I previously split confluent flasks every 48 hours. After a while (without numerous passages), the cell growth rate slowed down tremendously. In fact it has taken a month and they are yet to grow to confluence (I may split in 3 days time). The cells look healthy, growth medium is fine. Any reasons?

Did you change any reagent s or conditions (new serum or so)?
Cell lines can change over time - sometimes you have to haw a fresh vial from you early passage stock. It will be especially complicated to compare results from the cells now slow growing to older results when they where faster.
