I have applied the EFA technique and finished all the steps and extracted factors. But after I finished, I have read in one article that he applied Likelihood Ratio test to compare the number of extracted factors models against the alternative saturated model and I don't understand why he doing that, and should I do the same?

I have used Principal Axis Factoring as an extraction technique and Direct Oblimin as a rotated method.
