Thank you for the reply, it is really a very interesting and important work!

I am involved and preparing some manuscripts on the results of BACI monitoring of a dam in southern Brazil, specifically with birds, but unfortunately we have not studied turtles in this project.

I know of a turtle monitoring programme, also in south Brazil, but its design did not included "before" impact scenario, and their results were not published because it was considered "uninformative" by some journals.

If I come across some additional information on this, I will post it!

Many thanks Joao, The study you shared has an interesting before-after comparison. Highlights one of the major challenges, which is finding control-impact contrasts across Amazon waterways (really hard to find comparable control areas without dam impacts) .....
