That's quite a detailed outline of the problem I have faced. I have got hold of a software Script by CGIAR which assigns economic weights in terms of +1 and -1. +1 for those traits which we want to increase and -1 for those which we want to decrease (for example maturity days). Do you think this logic is not sufficient to go through the problem of economic weights? They actually assign equal weights and use Smith selection index method. Thanks.
