During last 20 year at Ahmedabad, my observation is that rain fall in episodic way is increased. Very heavy rain falls in very short duration (few hours). Many such events are increased. Does this means there is change in climate? Is the region leading to different climate than what was earlier?
(Although my work is related to meteorites, this above question comes to me as a daily life problem)
I think you are on the right path. You observations for Asia, India are similar to my observations for Europe and America and all places on the planet.
Heavy rain means lots of water has evaporated. That means the ocean was warmer and created the conditions under which the warm water evaporated. Once it is up in the air, it has to fall down.
So, warmer ocean to more evaporation and more precipitation.
Will this heavy rain increase in the future?
If we continue to use fossil fuels to create energy in our cars, houses, factories, etc, the air temperature is going to rise further. Then, the ocean will get warmer still, and the rains will get even heavier. Not only that, the wind speed (which has already increased dramatically) will increase further as well as all-weather phenomena.
Surely, not a nice prediction or a encouraging prognosis for the later generations of our children and grandchildren!
A simple and nice answer.
A system when disturbed from an equilibrium tries to acquire a new equilibrium that need not be comfortable for us. The unfortunate thing is that we are not giving proper breathing space for the system to settle in any equilibrium, even of its own choice. Hence, the system will wander around. Perhaps, the hard fact is that the emotions for our children, grandchildren, down the line continues only for a couple of generations. Thereafter, we don't even bother about our own so-called family tree.
Finally, a positive note: In summers, set your AC temperature at 27-28 degree centigrade at home. Prefer bicycle or bike over car. Don't make an excessive use of any stuff simply on the pretext that it can be recycled.
