This semester I am writing a thesis, and I was wondering if there is some literature related to memes and emotional intelligence, memes and cognition or memes and empathy between people.
Also, I would like to hear your option if such a combination of interests is relevant in science. I truly believe people who share memes between each other somehow share a bond a connection, and would like to dive deeper, but not sure if it is possible.

There was an interesting study comparing the effects of memes on patients experiencing depression, and a control group. It found that depressive subject memes had a mitigating effect on depressive symptoms, and hypothesised that it might be because it gave patients a sense that their problems were shared. It might be a bit tangential to what you're studying, but might be worth a look.

I am not aware of any current research on this, but I can definitely see how the topic could be of interest, especially within the remit of autism studies.
