Analyte is not retaining on column and it is eluting before void or before baseline drift, which is generally observed because of diluent or mobile phase. In such conditions if method is only for assay and the analyte is well resolved from baseline drift and can be accurately quantified, then the method is acceptable or not? Is it mandatory that analyte must elute after baseline drift?

yes its mandatory that analyte must elute after baseline drift, because during method development we have to keep in mind all the peramwters for validation also, so if this type of problem comes then we have to tune up our Solvent system , Column selection and other perameters also, after good separation after basline drift we have to validate this method using differnt extremes conditions like increas floe rate , temp mobile phase ratio, etc...
and now a days veriety of colums available so we can calim that analyte not retaining in the column, we have to study column sutability and then establish the method and validate it .

Yes the analyte has to elute after the void time or the first baseline drift of the mobile phase. As already iterated before this becomes important for method validation. And also if you are going to perform any forced degradation studies chances are your impurity peak could get masked. Did you try playing around with the pH of the buffer (if you are using buffer). That will be in accordance with the pKa of your drug. Also you can trying changing the solvent composition and check (which I'm sure you must have). If after all this it doesn't work out, then the column is probably not suitable for your molecule.
