According with the World Energy Outlook (IEA, 2019), there are 850 million of people without electricity and an increase of the energy demand by 1.3% each year.
It is not so simple as to perform grid extension so solve this issue. We must be aware that there are isolated areas all over the world, mainly in South America, Africa and Asia.
The discussion is: it is better to think about an unique solution for all the isolated areas (like solar photovoltaic)? or to study the potencial of energy from each area in order to design the better solution (hydro, wind, biomass, hybrid)? Always targeting renewable energy or just the premise of energy for all? The cost is a premise or the environmental impact has higher weight in the energy supply definition?
What do you think? Please, explain your answer. Thanks.
