As I have conducted los Angeles abrasion test in the laboratory. Three type s of sandstone of varying UCS of Medium grained SS 13 MPa, fune grained SS 17.5 MPa and fine grained SS (pink) 51 MPa. Corresponding Abrasivity for all three rock samples is 55%, 30% and 12%.
But as the abrasivity % decreases wear rate of the drill bit is increasing from 8 mg/sec to 22 mg/sec.
What is the reason behind this. I have doubt about this work.
Strength and wear rate depend on numerous concurrently acting factors such as:
1. type and properties of friction surfaces,
2. operation regime of the cutting indentor,
3. properties of the environment where the indentor operates.
