Dear All!
I have seen several papers on design of microstrip band pass filter using open/short stub...I am not quite clear about where to use open stub and where to use short stub or what is the effect of open and short stub on filter performance?? Also what is effect/role of stub length i.e., lambda/4 and lambda/2??
Reg. spurline and SIR, i have studied it is used to suppress harmonics..so looking for some more information..
Anyone having knowledge of these areas, kindly guide or refer important books/journals..

Hello Sir,
Open stub resonator has two categories, 1) both ends open and 2) both ends short.
While short circuit stub has a category 1) short at one end
Short circuit lambd/4 will add different effect at resonance frequency similarly for lambda/2 structures it would be different.
As well which type of resonator you have to use that also depends on which type of coupling predominantly you that I. E. Either capacitive coupling or Inductive coupling.
Your harmonic suppression is also dependent on which resonator you have used.

Thank you very much!! Sir i am not clear of "which resonator you have used"?? Actually i am new to this particular field. kindly guide..what can be types of resonators?? In some papers i have seen author using both the stubs..and claims it has improved stop band performance.. so i am not clear of specific role of open and short stub... pls guide or refer papers which will help me understand it.. also i need to understand type of coupling and what is effect of capacitive/inductive coupling on filter performance...
