Actually it depends on the polymerase enzyme selection. Whereas Taq DNA Polymerase requires MgCl2 for optimal activity, Pwo DNA Polymerase shows higher activity with MgSO4. Therefore , selection of salt depends on the enzyme used in pcr .

Thanks for your answer.Actually DNA polymerase require Mg ion.Now question is what is effect of Cl ion and SO4 ion on PCR efficiency.

Aman Kumar , I think they are considered as spectator ions.
