What software are more advance and accurate for biodiversity indices calculations now a days in Plant sciences?
You can do it in Excel or on online calculators or write your own R code. A simple equation is number of species in the area divided by the total number of individuals in the area.
Check out the vegan package in R, https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/vegan/index.html
There is also the codyn package if interested in community dynamics over time https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/codyn/index.html
