Deliberative approaches, such as the Deliberative Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (DEEB), enable the integration of various scientific disciplines, local knowledge, and value systems into the decision-making process for biodiversity conservation. Rather than relying solely on economic indicators, DEEB includes participatory methods (e.g., public discussions, focus groups, consensus workshops) that create space for voices from local communities, as well as experts in ecology, economics, sociology, and politics.
