Dear all I am using python to generate a shape that the thickness and mesh size of it and hence the node number of it changes by each job. I want the displacement of a specific part of geometry (attached), but I`d prefer to find a code or a solution that Abaqus automatically find the path for each job. at the moment I manually select the nodes to create a path, but I want to find a way that code finds the nodes and creates that path automatically. it is a bit hard to understand what kind of information you wanna get. Also would be useful to have some idea what you already have tried so far, and your coding level. Regardless of that, I think for what you're trying to achieve a package called Skan will be useful:

with a few Skan functions you can easily find nodes and the path length between nodes in a skeletonized image. if what you want is to find the nodes of that black grid, this should be more than enough.

Python scripting to access ODB file allowed you to create a path in two approaches. In the first approach, you can generate the path by choosing pathlines points coordinate. In the second approach, you can choose node labels that exist in the pathline.
