I recently conducted a mass loss experiment spanning 5 weeks, with samples taken out weekly, for three different specimens. I observed that one of the steel specimens lost more mass in 1M of Acetic acid but fared better in 1M of HCl. So my question is, is this a normal occurrence? because the pH values of these acid concentrations suggest that it should corrode faster in HCl like the other two steel specimens.

N/B: results were taken weekly so it shows a trend
