How long should the experiment to know the effect of reflective mirrors reflection from sunlight on a solar panel. What is the range of months in which the experiment should be
I don't think you need run the experiment very long in Nigeria. There are parts of the world where panels do not get very contaminated, but I doubt if central Africa is one of them. I would think running for two weeks should be enough to show significant degradation. Are you using the mirrors to make a concentrator? Don't forget that most panels are optimised to work at about 1 sun; running at a much higher figure will reduce their efficiency and might damage them due to heat load.
Tony Maine Good day sir, thanks for your response. I'm using the mirrors as concentrators. The problem statement for the project is this:
'In Nigeria, insolation is not constant throughout the day which affects the power supplied by a solar panel, maximum insolation is received in the afternoon when the sun appears to be directly on the solar panel, however, during the morning and evening when the sun is not directly facing the panel, the power generated by the panel is lower compared to the power generated in the afternoon. In order to have constant insolation on the panel, a reflector, a mirror in this instance will be employed'.
