hello every one
i want to examine the application of the remote sensing in drought monitoring in more practice
for example some drought indices like NDVI, VCI, TCI, etc.were utilized commonly
can anyone help me to know how should i do that in some more detail
for example MODIS dataset is commonly used in such applications
but there is so many MODIS dataset in USGS (as presented in figure bellow) that i cant understand or find out their differences overall
which one should be used in this task exactly (by name)
i found that MODIS has 36 bands but which one and which of these MODIS images found on USGS should be used for drought monitoring

You may use the 16-day MODIS NDVI or EVI composites at 500 m or 250 m spatial resolution for drought monitoring. That can be found under MODIS Vegetation Indices - V6 -> MOD13A1 (500m), MOD13Q1 (250m)
Make sure that you also download the Quality Assurance bands to assess the pixels against cloud contamination. I attached a screenshot. If you click on the info button "i" (see arrow in the screenshot attached), then it will open a new tab with the description of the product. You can download these products faster via the Google Earth Engine (GEE)!
There are several software packages that you can also use for change detection and drought monitoring: Example:

For example, if you want to download NDVI you can directly download NDVI products or can generate from Raw bands.
