Hi, I am working on a study where I use mixture modelling with known classes (multi-group analysis) to test for latent mean differences between two groups (the model is estimated in Mplus). One of the groups (n=3500) is much larger than the other (n=1000). Does this affect the ability to compare means between groups, when their size differ? I’m also estimating a series of structural models were I use the Wald test to determine whether there are significant differences in the path coefficients between the two groups (i.e. I’m comparing a model where the path coefficients are constrained to be equal for both groups to a model where the path coefficients are free to vary). Will the large differences in sample sizes influence the results of these analyses?
