Hello everyone, I hope you’re fine and doing well.

As you know, water resources play a pivotal role in fostering socio-economic advancement and maintaining environmental equilibrium at both regional and global scales.

To comprehensively assess the implications of climate change on energy production, irrigation extensions, socio-economics, and ultimately the GDP of Nile Basin (NB) countries, I am going to evaluate different climate change projections and rainfall trends using the latest data from the CMIP6 (Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 6).

However, what I have found is that CMIP6 provides projections on a global scale with a rough resolution, typically around 1 degree by 1 degree, while for such kind of assessment like this, more precise assessments, downscaled CMIP6 data is necessary.

My questions to you as scientific community are as follows:

Where can I find downscaled CMIP6 data, either through CORDEX (Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment) or other downscaling initiatives for Africa continent.

Are you aware, or are there any existing or ongoing studies conducted in the African region, particularly the Nile Basin, that perform dynamical or statistical bias correction using satellite-based or ground-based data?

Any guidance on accessing downscaled CMIP6 data and information on relevant studies would be highly valuable for my research.

Regards

Mohammed A. Hassan
