Does webinar serve the purpose in imparting technical knowledge or wastage of time ?

During lock down period when transfer of technology through live demonstrations is not possible, most of the scientists working in research institutes have started webinar activity. Now, everyday, there are number of requests to register for webinar and under such situations, I am feeling that rather than to impart a practical training or knowledge, scientists have started to show their existence or activities by organizing such webinars. Is it okay?
