Does this picture show inadequate mixing during wet impregnation? I doped TiO2 with CuNO3 solution. After calcining at 400 deg C for 5 hours, the catalyst looked like this with gradient color of white to gray. Does this show that CuO is not evenly mixed with TiO2?
Here is a sample of a SEM-EDX picture of CuO doped TiO2. Maybe around 250 nmn.
The catalyst above can be crushed to powder size. They just clustered together after calcination.
You should try doing XRD. If there is any extra peak for CuO , it will indicate that doping has not taken place properly. If there is not any extra peak other than TiO2 than doping is successful. and for the doping the peak should get broad and intensity should get reduced as defects have been induced.
I am not able to do XRD for now because of budget reasons. The calcining parameters make it sure that copper oxide is produced (whether CuO or Cu2O). I'm just not sure if it doped or coated or mixed well with TiO2.
