How fast do you get the information about volcanoes of the world?
How do you classify you experience playing wit this exploratory visualization in a scale from 1 (poor) to 5 (outstanding)?
Any idea how to improve this visualization?

Thank your for looking at the data visualization and your recommendations about the mapping feature is appreciated. I will try adding other Web Map Service (WMS) to the map and see waht I can do regarding the size.

This is excellent. I am currently teaching a class about natural hazards and societal disruption through history. This is an excellent resource. I agree that the actual visual map or representation needs improved in both size and quality but this is an excellent first step and what you have done is highly useful. Thank you!
I have seen your visualizations and it looks pretty nice.
I have experienced some problems trying to select volcanos by only one country ( I have to deselect all others and the search tool didn't work). I suggest you to attach the description of each volcano individually and also its eruption history. Something that is really needed is tectonic plate boundaries and the volcano ash dsitribution and economical losses produced by those eruptions.
One question, have you experienced with web mapping services (wms)? There are a huge amount of geographic information available by using this web service that could be easely embeded in your visualization.

The filter control Select Countries (top of the visualization) allows you to select volcanoes located on specific countries. The problem you experienced was using that filter? Could you explain a little bit more about what was the problem?
The search tool allows you to search by volcano name, but you have to have an idea of the volcano name.
This visualization works only with the list of 1,550 recorded volcanoes. It does not include eruptions, which is something I'm working right now.
I have the ability to work with WMS. Do you have a recommendation of a WMS that includes useful information to relate to volcanoes. As you mentioned tectonic plates, elevations, etc.

I have change the web map service used as background of the map to give a better geographic context to the location of volcanoes.
The new wms provide information about the Terrain and altitude. Because of the color scheme of the wms, I've change the colors used for texts.

I'm just working on a new visualization that include the eruption history of volcanoes in the last decades.
Nice this is better and the zoom feature seems to work well. If there is a way to make the display window more pixels, that would be most excellent. If you are motivated to apply this technique to another area, having a similar Earthquake viewer would be very useful (I realize there are other products out there but none of them are using Tableau and Tableau has a lot of potential).
