This is a general query. In India, many schools teach French / Deutsche as a third language, and many students also learn foreign languages more seriously at college level also. Some college students learn Japanese for placement in Japan, Deutsche for placement in Germany and French for placement in Europe. Some college students on the other hand take extra focus on English and prepare rigorously for GRE / TOEFL exams for scholarship / admission in USA / Canada. Other than college admission and placement, foreign languages may help a student in travel also. As I did not study French, I have problems in travelling in Algeria and Tunisia, as most people speak French there. I like to know your general opinion on this query. Is it a good idea to encourage students to learn many foreign languages from childhood or is it not needed?
