Understanding of the dynamic of changing of economic pattern due to globalization, liberalization and privatization and individual cultural preferences and values.
If I u derstood your question well: economic development strongly influences cultueal changes: it brings quantitative and qualitative shifts of needs and prefwrences as well as as social changes and groups dynamics.
As mentioned by Mirna previously, there is a strong long term relationship between economic pattern and change of culture.
Globalization, liberalization and privatization brings some benefits and rise in income in most of cases under certain conditions (Govt stability, institutional quality, law and order, literacy rate and X, Y, Z).
If there is a rise in income there must be change of consumption pattern that directly affect the consumer preferences and taste.
As it was already mentioned, there is a strong relationship reciprocal influence between culture and economical patterns. However, the essence of interaction between culture and economic patterns depends on the conceptualization of culture. If culture is conceptualized as the aggregate of formal and non-formal institutions new economical patterns are likely to entail new institutionalized forms of interaction (on-line trading or Grameen-Bank-style micro credits).
If we conceptualize culture according to the Weberian method of Interpretative sociology (among modern theories for example Clifford Geertz), who considered culture as "a system of inherited conceptions expressed in symbolic forms by means of which men communicate, perpetuate, and develop their knowledge about and attitudes toward life", it will be a good idea to pay attention on the microsociological level, on actions and interactions within everyday life of people. In this case, I speculate, economic patterns will affect people less, than various material and other objects (that were designed in certain economical circumstances) that shape everyday life and experience of people.
