String theory's applications are remarkably wide. Unfortunately its been beaten in the nuclear domain, where physics on a lattice QCD are more acclaimed as well as in cosmology where GR regns supreme.
The lattice theorists call it "dead" to cement their superiotity, some of its found ing developers abandoned it (Smolin) but its still breathing.. I. E see Vasilakos recent article on cosmic string signatures in Nanograv grav. Waves signal analysis.
So what is the non foe-based status of the theory in these domain?

- really String theory is nothing else than some really senseless mathematical exercises that are based on some completely unphysical – and so fundamentally experimentally non-grounded – postulates, and its remarkably wide applications are nothing else than corresponding equally mathematical fairy tales.
And that is in both, cosmology and fundamentally Nature Strong force researches, including since that this theory was developed, first of all, aimed at development of “quantum GR”, while the last is fundamentally impossible, since GR itself is fundamentally strange theory. Matter’s spacetime is fundamentally absolute, fundamentally flat, fundamentally continuous, and fundamentally “Cartesian”, (at least) [4+4+1]4D spacetime with metrics (at least) (cτ,X,Y,Z, g,w,e,s,ct), which fundamentally cannot be “contracted”, “dilated”, “curved”, in the spacetime fundamentally no “quanta”, “granules”, “strings”, etc., can exist;
- including so, say, GR is inevitably fundamentally incompatible with QM .
Gravity is fundamentally nothing else than some fundamental Nature force, which will be without any problems “quantized” after the correct “classical” Gravity theory will be developed.
Though really complete theories of all fundamental Forces, including Gravity Force, can be developed only on Planck scale, and really, correspondingly, only basing on the Shevchenko-Tokarevsky’s Planck scale informational physical model, 3 main papers are

- despite that this question is scientifically quite senseless, the answer see above, but in mainstream physics publications, including in top physical journals, with this theory versions, and with other really fantastic “new physics” are numerous till now…
